The end of the road (for Lily!)

Newsletter editor Lily here.

I can’t believe that’s the last time I’ll write that.

After almost five delightful years (and somewhere in the ball park of probably 1,200 newsletters), this is my last week with ChairmanMe! But fear not: The Dose is continuing with the lovely Rachel Cheney at the helm. She’s absolutely brilliant!

As for me, I leave the CM team with nothing but fond memories and wonderful things to say. I said this to Sarah when we started the off-boarding process a few weeks ago: Working with CM has been a freelancer’s dream gig. I got autonomy, a supportive workplace, lots of trust, good pay, and plenty of inspiration for my own life.

I started following Sarah on Twitter at some point early on in my college career; I looked up to her and read everything she wrote. You can imagine my shock and surprise when I received an email from her in August 2017 asking if I knew anyone who’d want to help her out with a new venture. (She originally thought I’d be too busy, but I jumped at the opportunity to work with her!)

Sarah and I also recently chuckled about who I was when I started with CM versus who I am now. Back then, I was barely a year out of college and only a few months into full-time freelancing. There was a lot I didn’t know about myself and where I was going. I can vividly remember sitting around a conference table with Sarah, Paul, and Shea in San Francisco in summer 2017, and that was the entire team.

As I leave now almost half a decade later at 28, I wouldn’t say I know everything, but a few more things have gotten sorted. And through it all — the good days, bad days, and everything in between — I always knew I had an email to send at 3pm EST/12pm PST every weekday. It’ll be strange not having that deadline permanently tattooed in my brain.

Lastly, I want to say a massive thank you to all of you who’ve read this newsletter over years, first in its long stint as The Mama Bear and now more recently as The Dose. It’s been a joy to connect with so many of you during that time, and I can’t wait to see what the world has in store for all of us.

If any of you want to get in touch to say hi or work together, my email is, and you can also find me on Twitter. I have a feeling some magical things are coming my way this summer. As for now, I’m leaving for the Canadian Grand Prix later this week, working on my cozy murder mystery, and writing and editing. Regardless, let’s chat!

Onward, friends.
